What is an Ultramarathon?

Ultramarathons are long-distance running races that exceed the marathon distance of 26.2 miles, 42.2 km, . The most common ultramarathon distances are 50 km, 100 km, 50 miles, and 100 miles. Ultramarathons can take place on roads, trails, or a combination of the two.

The first ultramarathon took place in England in 1954, and the first American ultramarathon was held in California in 1968. Today, ultramarathons are popular around the world, and there are many different types of ultramarathons to choose from.

The India Ultra Marathon is a 100-kilometer race that takes place in the state of Maharashtra. The race begins at the base of the iconic fort of Shivneri and winds its way through the picturesque hills and valleys of the Sahyadri mountain range.
